Taking CCD Image with EMMENU

  • Blank beam
  • Click to expose in Tecnai interface
  • Lift screen
  • Switch toggle on box from TEM to CCD (right of column)
    • ensure 15 sec for charge to drain off CCD
  • Unblank beam
  • Click expose in EM Menu (half way down left column)
  • Advance image number if you want to save
    • or change settings for autoadvance
  • Click power for Fourier Transform

EM Menu saves up to 16 images in memory until explicitly saved on disk

  • To save series
    • Under misc menu (bottom right)
    • Adjust numbers to in bottom right dialog box to reflect number of images to save
    • Image format
      • Save as 8 bit TIFF for easy viewing
      • save as a Teitz EM format if planning on image processing
    • Select save directory on TEM data computer
      • mounted as P: drive from control computer
    • Click save series
