| | The Center has an established Emergency Response Network, designed to address medical, physical security, fire and hazardous materials emergencies. The Network is accessed by dialing ext. 101 from any center phone. Dialing 101 and reporting the emergency situation will initiate response by the most appropriate individual(s) or group(s). |

- Medical emergencies – Take whatever emergency first aid measures seem necessary including decontamination, and for an alert, ambulatory, non-bleeding individual attempt to take them to the emergency room at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Amsterdam Avenue at 113th Street, or to Presbyterian Hospital at 168th Street and Broadway. Otherwise, IMMEDIATELY summon the emergency response by dialing 911.

- Security emergencies - Security officers are present at the center 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Dial 101 and talk to security immediately. If there is no response, IMMEDIATELY summon NYPD by dialing 911.
- Physical emergencies (e.g., flood, loss of electrical power, temperature extreme) Dial 101 and report the situation. The person answering the call will summon the most appropriate response personnel, or staff on call.

- Fire emergencies – The Center depends upon the New York City Fire Department to fight fires. Pulling the fire alarm sends an alarm directly to the Fire Department. If you see smoke or fire, pull the fire alarm, evacuate the building, then dial 212 939 0660 x 9101 to provide information about the situation. If you smell, but do not see smoke, dial 101 and report the location. When the fire alarm sounds, evacuate the building immediately and assemble as close to the main entrance of the Park Building as is safe.

- BE SURE TO REPORT TO THE ASSEMBLY POINT SO THAT WE CAN CHECK THAT EVERYONE HAS EVACUATED !
- YOU ENDANGER OTHER PERSONNEL WHO MIGHT SEARCH FOR YOU IF YOU DO NOT REPORT!
- YOU MUST EVACUATE WHEN THERE IS A FIRE ALARM.
- Magnet quench – To avoid the following hazards, the room containing a quenching magnet should be evacuated by all for more than 1 hour after the quench.
- Local effects might conceivably reduce oxygen to dangerously low levels, although the room size should preclude low oxygen concentrations,
- Blocks in the multiple relief valves could lead to Dewar rupture and explosion.
- Non emergency situations of some urgency. Contact any staff member and alert them to the situation. If you have a time-critical concern, call 799 (which announces to all phones) and say "ALERT - staff please come to ... (your location) ".
