Chemical, Biochemical, Biological Toxin Operations

SOP for using a hood when the hoods are not attached to the emergency power supply, or fail from other causes.

  1. Storage of items in a hood is NOT a recommended practice for any higly toxic material. The safety of the material cannot be reliant on the hood's operation.
  2. In planning for the unusual case of conducting a hood-requiring operation when power fails, the operator must always have a "dump" plan for immediate safe handling of the dangerous material.
