Password Synchronization on Spectrometers

Passwords are synchronized between the Spectrometers and the SFTP server every 10 minutes.

Initial Password

The initial password assigned must be changed at first login. Until the password has been changed, there will be no access to any of the spectrometers or the SFTP server.

Changing passwords

  1. At the first login, a screen presents requesting a password change.
  2. Passwords can be changed at any of the spectrometers. After the change, the password is propagated to all the other spectrometers and the SFTP Server.
  3. Password changes are not allowed on the SFTP Server. All changes most be made on a Spectrometer.
  4. To change your password run passwd from the command line. You will be asked for the current password, a new password and verification of the new password. The new password must follow the requirements below.
