Figure 1: Conventionally, chemically fixed corpus callosum versus high-pressure frozen-freeze substituted (HPF-FS) samples from the New York Structural Biology Center and Wadsworth Center in Albany, NY. HPF-FS samples from Albany lack the cytoplasmic reticulation and chromatin aggregation that is present in NYSBC samples. There is also less extraction of cytoplasmic components in Albany samples when compared to the conventionally chemically fixed samples.
