Workshop in Electron Crystallography

The Transcontinental EM Initiative for Membrane Protein Structure (TEMIMPS) is hosting a workshop in the theory and practice of electron crystallography. Students will get hands-on experience in handling membrane proteins, in their 2D crystallization, as well as in image processing. Sample preparation and data acquisition strategies will be demonstrated and students will have the opportunity to explore their skills in these topics. Recent advances in the field will be presented and discussed.

We intend to accept 20 students for the workshop. The cost will be $1000, which covers local accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner and all materials used during the workshop. Students are invited to bring their own samples of purified membrane proteins to use during the 2D crystallization exercises.
