Application for 900 MHz NMR time at NYSBC by external users
  1. Please prepare a current NIH Biosketch ( see http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/biosketch.doc ) as a word .doc file or an adobe .pdf file.
  2. Please prepare a word .doc file or an adobe .pdf file of up to 1 page single spaced,
    1. a brief description of the overall project for which the 900 may play a part.
    2. a brief identification of the experiments to be run
    3. a justification of how your project will contribute to testing the advantages of ultra high field NMR in structural biology.
  3. Please prepare a word .doc file or an adobe .pdf file of up to 1 page single spaced,
    1. preliminary data showing the possible feasibility of what is proposed and the restrictions of resources currently available to you
    2. statement of NMR resources available to your research and why they are not currently adequate. Please be advised that the amounts of time available under the NSYBC program are quite limited, so "inadequate time" on local facilities will not necessarily be a strong argument for your proposal.
  4. We strongly urge you to become a TWiki user of this site for convenience and information. If you dont already have access, email infotech@nysbc.org or call 212 939 0660 x 420. Please specifically identify that you are a new user and want to file a proposal related to the 900. If you are able, then please attach the biosketch, and other pages to your user page on the TWiki site. If this is too diffiult, the email the files to dcadmin@nysbc.org.

This request for documents is so that your application may be speedily reviewed, and that we have information for reports to NIH.

Availability of the 900 MHz NMR systems

Release date Jun 13 2006

NYSBC invites you to submit proposals for use of the 900 MHz spectrometer at the New York Structural Biology Center. This potential use is supported by NIGMS / NIH. Most of NYSBC's other facilities are available only to faculty and associates of NYSBS's Member Institutions.

We are pleased to announce that time (about 10%) on the 900 MHz NMR system is available to the scientific community. We are seeking proposals that would benefit from and demonstrate the advantages of our highest field system. Requests for 900 MHz time must include a modest amount of rationale and preliminary data justifying access to this field.

Proposals are now being accepted for the July 2006 to December 2006 time period; there is no closing date, and applications will be reviewed approximately monthly. For detailed instructions and contact information, please send a preliminary expression of interest to nmrschedule@nysbc.org.

As an NIH P41 grant recipient, we are able in this cycle through Dec 2006, to offer instrumentation time to external users at no charge for nonproprietary research, regardless of funding source.

If you have any questions about the technical resource, please include them in your expression of interest to nmrschedule@nysbc.org.

There will be limitede future general e-mail announcements of NMR time under this program. If you wish to make a proposal for use at any time in the next 30 months, please express interest to nmrschedule@nysbc.org 900 Magnet

Distribution

This announcement has been sent as an email message to a subset of those identified as current NIH grantees with key works NMR AND (protein OR nucleic) in the selection to CRISP for years 2004 and 2005. Please feel free to edit the spreadsheet and ADD anyone you want emailed, or correct the email addresses in columns B and E for our next mailing. You are free to send the availability announcement to anyone. There will be no specific negotiations with individuals; there will FAQ's added to this page as queries are made; possible users should be aware of the small amount of available time. The announcment has been sent to those Faculty affiliates with an identified interest in NMR outside the original PI group.

Application for 900 MHz NMR time at NYSBC by external users

  1. Be a TWiki user of this site. You must use your own login name (WikiName).
  2. Please attach a current NIH Biosketch ( see http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/biosketch.doc ) to your own page of the TWikiUsers? page as a word .doc file or an adobe .pdf file.
  3. Please attach to your own page of the TWikiUsers? page in a word .doc file or an adobe .pdf file of about 1 page single spaced,
    1. a brief description of the overall project for which the 900 may play a part.
    2. a brief identification of the experiments to be run
    3. a justification of how your project will contribute to testing the advantages of ultra high field NMR in structural biology.

  2. Can NYSBC offer me accommodation during the experiments?
    1. We regret that we cannot, and point you to our Hotels link
  3. Is there a cryoprobe on the 900?
    1. Not yet. Expected by end of August, 2005.

Availability of the 900 MHz NMR systems ALERT!

Release date Jul 21 2005

It is our pleasure to invite you to submit proposals for use of the 900 MHz spectrometer at the New York Structural Biology Center(NYSBC). This potential use is supported by NIGMS / NIH. Most of NYSBC's other facilities are available only to faculty and associates of NYSBS's Member Institutions.

We are pleased to announce that time (up to about 10%) on the 900 MHz NMR system is available to the scientific community. We are seeking select proposals that would benefit from and demonstrate the advantages of our highest field system. Requests for 900 MHz time must include a detailed rationale and preliminary data justifying access to this field.

Proposals are now being accepted for the July 2005 to December 2005 time period; there is no closing date, and applications will be reviewed approximately monthly. For detailed instructions and contact information, please send a preliminary expression of interest to nmrschedule@nysbc.org.

As an NIH P41 grant recipient, we are able in this cycle through Dec 2005, to offer instrumentation time to external users at no charge for nonproprietary research, regardless of funding source.

If you have any questions about the technical resource, please include them in your expression of interest to nmrschedule@nysbc.org.

There will be no further general e-mail announcements of NMR time under this program. Instead, there will be updates at a secured web site. If you wish to make a proposal for use at any time in the next 30 months, please express interest to nmrschedule@nysbc.org %9%
