  1. Turn on red safe light by flipping switch down.
  2. Fill the water tanks
  3. Insert film into racks.
  4. 15 minutes in developer
  5. 1 minute rinse (first pair of water tanks)
  6. 10 minute fix
  7. 30 minute running water rinse (second pair of water tanks)
    • (Note:At this point it is safe to turn on the normal light in the room)
  8. Add a few drops of photo-flo
  9. Remove from water
  10. Label racks with your name and the date
  11. Place on metal shelves to dry

  1. Open the box and light-tight foil packing labeled "SO-163" and remove the undeveloped film
  2. Load film notch in the upper right hand corner into empty plates.
  3. Carefully place the plates back into the cassette and close the lid

  • See each individual microscope page for specific instructions
  • Special Film Desiccator Instructions:
    • Make sure you change the Phosphorus Pentoxide each time you change cartridge
    • Place container of Phosphorus Pentoxide in fume hood NYSBC staff will dispose of properly
  • When changing film cartridge more than once in a day
    • Be aware wet film prevents cryo cycle from running, to prevent staying late while film pumps down:
      • Make sure you change first film cartridge before noon
      • Make arrangement with NYSBC staff to load dry film in the morning after your session and load empty film cartridge
