Tecnai F20

The Tecnai F20 operates with an accelerating voltage of 200kV. It is equipped with a Schottky field emission gun. The tip on this instrument was replaced recently (June of 2009).

Two cameras are installed on this microscope for high end applications. A Tietz fast scan camera allows the search of suitable areas of the specimen under low magnification, low illumination conditions, as well as focusing at high magnifications prior to exposure. The high quality data is recorded either on film plates, or on a 4kX4K CCD Tietz camera with a 15um pixelsize.

The program SerialEM is installed on all the instruments at the NYSBC to provide the capability to collect tilt series for tomographic reconstructions, on a common interface that can be easily learned by the affiliated users.

Specifications for this instrument, as well as operational specifics are available to affiliates of the NYSBC at http://www.nysbc.net/twiki/bin/view/Main/CryoEM
